Prof.-Ir.-Dr.-Ahmad-Kamil-Arshad

 

Ahmad Kamil Arshad is currently a Professor of Civil Engineering (Highway & Transportation) and the Deputy Director of the Institute for Infrastructure Engineering and Sustainable Management (IIESM) at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Malaysia.  He received the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia, MSc (Highway & Transportation) from Universiti Putra Malaysia, and PhD in Civil Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Malaysia. He is a registered professional engineer with practicing certificate with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia. He has about 20 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry with various engineering organizations in Malaysia including the Public Works Department of Malaysia, engineering consultants, a contractor and a project management company. He switched his career as a full-time lecturer when he joined the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam in 2009.

Dr. Ahmad Kamil’s area of expertise is the management, planning, and design of highway transportation infrastructure with emphasis on pavement engineering. Dr. Ahmad Kamil’s research is in the areas of Pavement Materials, Traffic Operations and Highway Safety. He has been the principal investigator for a number of research projects particularly in pavement materials, heavy vehicles interaction with traffic flow and pavement structure and pedestrian behaviour. He has supervised 5 PhD students and 7 MSc research students to their completion and graduation. He is the author/co-author of more than 100 publications in journals, conference proceedings and books. He is also a reviewer for various engineering journals and conferences.

Dr. Ahmad Kamil is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, a Member of the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, United Kingdom. He served as a Council member with the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) from 2014 to 2019 and served in the various IEM committees including Admissions & Practical Training, Professional Practice, Welfare and Finance. He is also a panel evaluator for Engineering Technology degree programs and panel examiner for Professional Engineers appointed by the Board of Engineers, Malaysia.
